Gold-filled jewelry is different from traditional gold-plated jewelry. By U.S. Federal Trade Commission standards, gold-filled pieces contain a substantially thicker layer of real gold over a jeweler's brass core. The result is jewelry designed to offer the look and feel of solid gold with greater durability for everyday wear.
